Since the last conference, we attended in Chengdu in 2011, Asia for Animals has grown into one of the largest international events dedicated to animal protection.
Over the years, thousands of participants have been brought together by AFA, generating new partnerships and innovations for tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges in animal welfare and wildlife management. As JBF is working towards building a society that enables a better life for animals and creating better living conditions with human, the conference has become an essential exposure for activists and veterinarians like us. As AFA is a unique and crucial opportunity for networking and learning, our priority was to spend ample time for interaction. As a small organization, JBF is making a real difference for animals and AFA is the platform for us to come together, have our voice heard and access vital support.
The theme of the conference is ‘Changing Human Behaviour’ because this is what everyone working for animals really wants to happen. Most of us, in some way, are trying to change what people do because if we do not understand why humans do the things they do, and what drives them to change, we will never be effective at making the world a better place for animals. We all have experience, knowledge or ideas about Changing Human Behaviour and Asia for Animals 2017 was an opportunity for us to learn more about this theme.
It is wonderful that the 10th AFA Conference focused on Human Behaviour Change, recognizing that solving non-human animal issues can only be achieved through the changing of human behavior. That’s why we believe that education is the way forward. We are so honored and pleased to meet everyone at the conference.
