Gaushala
यथा धेनु सहस्रेषु वत्सो विन्दति मातरम्।
एवं पूर्वकृतं कर्म कर्तारमनुगच्छति ॥
A gaushala is a shelter or sanctuary specifically created for the care and protection of cows. It’s a noble cause, as cows are considered sacred in many cultures and providing them with a safe haven is a compassionate endeavor. The project Gaushala was inaugurated on 24 may,2023 aiming to provide shelter to the rescued cows along with the basic medical treatment.
Recently in February 2021,The BJP government proposed a law to impose a complete ban on the slaughter of cows and the sale, storage or transportation of beef or beef products in any form. Despite the law, still there are a lots of illegal export cases. Here in JBF society the gaushala project aim to provide these abandoned cows the proper care and shelter. At present the gaushala is made by locally available amenities. We are also taking pledge towards sustainable home for our gau matas in future days.
The Goshala project is designed to address the pressing issue of abandoned and disowned cows and calves, who are in dire need of a safe and dignified living environment. With your support, this project will provide these animals with adequate food, water, and shelter, allowing them to live out their remaining days with dignity and care. Additionally, the Goshala Project will contribute to mitigating the various challenges posed by these abandoned animals, such as crop destruction, traffic disruption, and public health risks.
Given that Assam and the North East region share international borders, illegal cattle trade here has flourished and emerged as a significant law and order issue. The Goshala Initiative will not only provide a solution for managing these abandoned animals but also contribute as a shelter for the rescued cattle which is envisioned to house 100 cows.
