Dog Bites and Rabies:

Dog bites are a common scenario, but how worried should one be if bitten by a dog?

Should we panic or should we just let it slip? Both would be wrong.

Mostly it depends if the dog is a stray or a domestic pet. A pet dog that has been vaccinated duly shouldn’t cause much harm if the bite is not severe. But if you’ve been bit by a stray dog the concept changes because there is no possible way of knowing if it was vaccinated or not but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should panic. In such a case you should seek medical help and follow the physician’s instructions.

To ensure public safety and awareness JBF initiated a training program In March 2018 at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital, Guwahati, Assam.

We provided a thorough presentation on how to deal with victims of a dog bite and encourage them to continue the 5 doses of vaccination. With the avid Cooperation of MMCH staff members, we hope to better understand Rabies and Dog Bites. Looking forward to more participation and involvement in the coming days to create a rabies-free world. We at JBF always believe that interactions like these can create a better understanding and orientation towards any problem.
