JBF (INDIA) TRUST commonly known as JBF (Just Be Friendly) is a professionally managed not-for-profit social sector organization promoting the welfare of animals since its inception in 2003 and it aims to build a society that enables better life for animals and creates better living conditions with humans.
An Animal Welfare Camp was organized in Satargaon on May 3, 2024, with the aim of ensuring the well-being of domestic animals and promoting a holistic “One Health” approach. The camp, organized by Assam Downtown University in collaboration with JBF (Just be Friendly) and Rotary Club of Guwahati, was part of the project for socio-economic development of the ST community through hydroelectric and solar power generation, integrated farming, and mushroom production. The project has been sanctioned by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The animal welfare camp witnessed the participation of JBF volunteers, who visited nearly 60 households in Satargaon to raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare and co-existence with animals. JBF recognizes that the well-being of humans and animals is interconnected and strives to create an environment that fosters good conditions for both.
A key aspect of the camp was the involvement of ten veterinarians from the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara. These experts provided valuable guidance and veterinary care to the domestic animals in Satargaon. They conducted health check-ups, administered vaccinations, and offered advice on proper animal care to the residents.
The camp also emphasized the “One Health” approach, which recognizes that the health and welfare of humans and animals are interdependent. By promoting a harmonious co-existence with animals, JBF and its partners aim to create a healthier and more compassionate society.
This animal welfare camp marks an important step toward raising awareness about animal welfare and promoting the well-being of both humans and animals in Satargaon. It is a testament to the collaborative efforts of Assam Downtown University, JBF, Rotary Club of Guwahati, and the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara.
