JBF (Just Be Friendly), Mission Rabies WVS with the support of theDepartment of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Assam and theGuwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), officially launched the AssamRabies Elimination Project today. The initiative was inaugurated at theGauhati Press Club by Shri Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati MunicipalCorporation, in the presence of key dignitaries, including Dr. DandeswarDeka, Member, Veterinary Council of India, Sri Moloy Baruah,Environmentalist, Dr. Sashanka Sekhar Dutta (Founder and ManagingTrustee, JBF), Dr. Balaji Chandrashekar (Director of Operations, MissionRabies India), Rtn Pranab Choudhury, President, Rotary Club of Guwahatiand others.

The event began on a positive note with Mr. Baruah highlighting the importance of rabies control and the significant impact this project will have. Dr. Deka then emphasized the crucial link between human, animal, and environmental health.

A key moment of the event was the inauguration of the rabies hotline by Shri. Mrigen Sarania, Honorable Mayor. The Mayor commended JBF’s efforts in Guwahati and underscored the hotline’s vital role in rabies prevention and response.
