On the occasion of World Veterinary Day, 2022 JBF (INDIA) TRUST popularly known as JBF Just Be Friendly, for the very first time presented an award, the Animal Welfare Field Veterinarian Award in association with SAPA (Small Animal Practitioners Association). This award is first of its kind in entire North-East India to honor the hard work of the Veterinarians. And it’s delightful to announce that the Animal Welfare Field Veterinarian Award for the year 2022 goes to Dr. Parag Jyoti Deka for his incredible hard work and excellent efforts in the field of animal welfare. He began his career as Project Officer of Pygmy Hog Conservation Program (PHCP) in early 1997 and was engaged in veterinary support, healthcare, management and breeding of endangered Pygmy Hog (Porcula Salvania) in captivity.
Accompanying the above mentioned, various other activities were planned and executed to celebrate this day with an underlying motive to spread awareness amongst society. The day takes place each year on the last Saturday in the month of April. Various campaigns and drives were performed including Anti-Rabies Vaccination Campaign in collaboration with College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Anti-Rabies Vaccination Campaign at Mayong in collaboration with Early Birds. Mayong is a place where people are not much aware of the problems related to rabies so making them aware of the disease was a great achievement for JBF. Two more Anti-Rabies Vaccination campaign at Hiyaa’s Clinic and Anti-Rabies Vaccination campaign in collaboration with Binapani Veterinary Clinic, Jorhat were organised to reach as many people as we couldto blow an impact on their minds. Along with on-ground campaigns, leaflet distribution, Awareness Drive on social media platforms and most importantly Visual Broadcast Awareness Drive which can imprint substantial impact on fellow members of society.
