Zoonoses awareness by JBF

On the occasion of World Zoonoses Day on 6th July, JBF promoted its awareness drive ‘Responsible pet keeper’ by visiting different vet clinics/pet shops and aware them & their clients about responsible guardianship. It is an unique campaign by JBF where JBF will guide the pet owners to be responsible towards their duties as a pet keeper. JBF team visited vet clinics/pet shops in the city and put up the posters addressing the responsible pet keeper’s duty.  The pet shop owners were interested in this campaign as even they get such problems of abandonment of dogs when they grow old or due to other reasons like chronic diseases, increase cost of management etc. This drive is aiming to bring limelight in those problems.

Zoonoses is an infectious disease transmissible under natural conditions between vertebrate animals and human beings. To spread the awareness about it JBF, in collaboration with Hiyaa’s Vet Clinic conducted a free health check up, free Anti-Rabies Vaccination and also distributed free samples of pedigree for the pets. More than 30 pet parents turned up & avail the services.

 

The Managing trustee of JBF was delighted by the response of the pet parents. He gave the message of importance of this campaign “Zoonoses is an infectious disease but sadly people are not aware of it. With the free Anti-Rabies Vaccination program we want to aware the pet owners that you can be safe by such deadly diseases if your pet is vaccinated. JBF always try to do something new, therefore we came up with the idea of ‘Responsible pet keepers’ so that pet keepers value their pet more by giving it proper vaccination, providing time to health check up & especially not to abandon it after it grows old. People should understand that there are infectious diseases caused by animals to humans & vice-versa that should be prevented by time”
