When we see a dog in street, we usually give them a sickening look. This is because they are eating from the garbage, living in the drains & dust, looking like a horrible creature that is ready to kill everything which comes in its way. But let us take a while to think of all the good things that stray has done or have the potential to do. Good things are stray dogs don’t go hand in hand in our society. We humans like to be the superior mortal who decides every rule of the society. It is us who once claimed dog as their best friend. But we set the ‘terms and conditions’ star into that also. We decide which breed will be our best friend and which will be not.
The Indian local dog that we often refer as street dog is actually called Indian pariah dog. If you will search about this breed you will get informed about its origin as it is an ancient autochthonous landrace that is found all over India, Bangladesh and even beyond in South Asia. But we are here not to talk about the pariah dog specifications, which you can easily find in a Wikipedia page. Let us look through this case where the filthy stray dog is the main protagonist.
This an interesting story about pack of dogs which played the role of James Bond in real and chased away a man who tried to dump his wife’s dead body. Yes, you read it right. This incident occurred in Sangam Vihar, Delhi where a 36 year old man murdered his wife because he doubted her for infidelity. When the man was dumping his murdered wife’s body, the residential dogs chased him away which scared the husband that it will wake up the people around resulting to which he left the body and left. Residents of the area noticed a sack with blood and informed the police. The police investigated the matter and the neighbors identified the body. In his interrogation, the accused admits that the street dogs started to bark at him when he was taking the body to nearby forest to hide the crime but he got scared and left the body there. Also, we recently heard the news about a stray dog who rescued an abandoned baby girl from the garbage. The baby girl was treated after and now is a healthy baby. Also, one dog mouli in Kerala had an intense fight with cobra to protect its master’s family. We get enormous examples of such dogs sacrificing their lives for their masters or helping the human being since ages. But still as we’re the supreme creature, we possessed the power to discriminate not just fellow humans but also these mute creatures.
Undoubtedly dogs are man’s friend but when it comes to being humane they have proved to be more empathetic than humans. Therefore, think about this when you a stray dog starving in the streets or before you get ready to pay thousands for a foreign breaded dog.
