A week-long program at Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science for World Rabies Day came to an end on 28th September 2018 i.e yesterday with a seminar on “Community based approach to prevent and control dog mediated Rabies”. Resource persons were Dr. S.A. Laskar and Dr. U. Phangshu from State Surveillance Unit, National Health Mission, Dr. J B Dutta and Dr. S George from Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, and Managing Trustee of JBF Dr Sashanka Sekhar Dutta.
Dr Sashanka Sekhar Dutta talked on the role of social sector organizations in the prevention and control of Rabies in India with special reference to Assam.
A rally was conducted to spread awareness about Rabies. Students and the veterinary officers participated in this rally. JBF provided free vaccination to the free-roaming dogs, domestic dogs, and cats.
