Dogs are believed to be the first species to be domesticated. It has been 130,000* years since the first dog was domesticated.
Their faithfulness towards the human race has earned them the title of “Man’s best friend”. They have helped us in hunting, alerting about predators in the early age, thus playing a major role in the increase of our survival and success. They have been with the human race without any discrimination and continue to do so.
Humans on the other hand haven’t been much kinder towards them. From the pathetic condition of the street dogs to the inhuman killings of dogs in China we have seen it all. When it comes to adoption many of us prefer to adopt breed dogs than stray dogs. Why this discrimination? We being the human beings should have been much kinder and less discriminating, shouldn’t we? Or has man not been much successful in being Dog’s best friend so far.
JBF has recently received an adoption request from a gentleman. He wanted to adopt a Bullmastiff puppy. He had specific requirements in mind regarding the adoption. The first was the breed, then the age of the dog. The gentleman made it very clear that he did not want any aged or a local dog. This answers many unanswered questions regarding the discrimination towards the street dogs. It is interesting to note that since a well-bred Bullmastiff costs around 70,000 to 100,000 INR, it is quite rare that we as an organization can find a homeless Bullmastiff for adoption.
JBF recently on the eve of World Zoonoses Day organized a street play on “Human Behaviour Towards Stray Dogs.” The play highlighted the sufferings of stray dogs and kind of discrimination they face. JBF is dedicated towards both the physical and psychological well-being of the street dogs. We therefore, appeal to all the animal lovers to please be kinder towards the local street dogs and adopt them as well. These dogs are in more need of your love and kindness as they are already lagging in the race of survival and compassion. We would also like you to support us through donations and help us in our endeavour. In doing so, we can meet up to the expectations of the people
Also, help make this world a better place for the street dogs. So let us join hands in an effort to become “Dog’s best friend” and return their faithfulness towards us since centuries in kind.
